The Spyderco SpyOpera C255CMP is a refined Italian-made folding knife designed by Italian custom knifemaker Massimo “Max” Sanna and produced in collaboration with lionSTEEL. It combines a premium M390 blade with beautifully contoured brown canvas Micarta scales for a sophisticated, everyday-carry design. Spyderco's current product guide confirms the Italian origin and these core specifications.
The 2.90-inch M390 blade features a full-flat grind and plain edge, providing excellent slicing performance and outstanding edge retention. The blade opens through Spyderco's signature Round Hole and locks securely with a traditional back lock.
The handle features contoured brown canvas Micarta scales over skeletonized titanium liners, along with a stainless steel backspacer. A deep-pocket wire clip provides discreet, tip-up carry.

Our Take: The SpyOpera is a great choice if you want a Spyderco that feels a little more refined. The combination of Italian craftsmanship, M390, canvas Micarta, and titanium liners gives it a premium character without making it oversized or heavy.
At just 2.7 ounces, it's especially appealing as a lightweight gentleman's EDC. The brown Micarta also gives the SpyOpera a warmer, more traditional look than many of Spyderco's tactical-oriented folders.

Making knives that consistently deliver reliable high-performance requires an ongoing commitment to testing. In our million-dollar testing facility we examine edge retention with a CATRA machine, look for rust development with Q-FOG, check the force needed to open and close a knife. We also repeatedly test for stress, wear, optimal heat-treating and actively search for higher quality, performance enhancing steels and materials.
