Musashi Asuka Tanto - Red
First appearing in Japan in the Heian period (794-1185), the tanto dagger was often worn alongside the tachi and later Katana swords. Early tanto-like blades were often made from broken longer swords, or even yari spearpoints. It was customary for a samurai, upon entering a home peacefully, to remove his katana and keep his tanto on his person. In the decades prior to WWII, the tanto came into vogue and was commonly worn again.
This sharp tanto, made by Musashi, is made from carbon steel and is securely mounted into its tsuka handle. It comes with a lacquered wood saya scabbard.
