Think you can't improve on something that's already great? Schrade begs to differ. The Schrade SCHF52 Frontier is an updated version of the SCHF37, which was widely hailed as a great fixed blade.
The SCHF52 retains the same 7.04-inch 1095 carbon steel blade, but it features an upgraded blade coating. The thick powder coating of the previous iteration created drag while batoning, but the SCHF52 uses a Teflon-like coating that not only holds up better to rigorous use but also adds an extra layer of rust-resistance to the steel.
Made of durable black TPE, the handle was extended and jimping on the lower part of the grip was removed. This ensures there are no hot spots in your grip, making it comfortable to wield for hours on end. A pronounced curvature toward the rear of the grip also keeps the knife from slipping out of your hand. Less aggressive jimping on the handle near the spine of the blade gives even greater control when dealing with finer tasks.
The Schrade SCHF52 comes with a black polyester belt sheath as well as a ferro rod, striker, and sharpening stone.

This knife is the best in budget knives, because you get a high quality knife for a low price. Although it was nice to get a ferro rod, it doesn't light as well as other fire starters. Also the threads on the sheath started to unravel. Not a big problem because it keeps you and the knife protected, just wish it was threaded better. This is still a very good knife and you wouldn't buy it just for the ferro rod or a top of the line sheath anyway. Awesome knife!!!!
This is one helluva knife! I use it to chop vines as thick as your forearm, and it does that with no problem. The weight of the blade is great, the black coating is NOT paint, it's baked on. This my go to all-around knife, and I wouldn't want to be without it when SHTF or bugout scenarios, seriously. I've broken all the Chinese knives to last a lifetime, but I know I can't break this one!!
This knife is a all around work horse. Can be very useful as a hunting knife survival knife or bush craft knife. This blade really does it all. Would highly recommend to anyone.
1/4" thick knife, full tang. Very sturdy knife, very sharp right out of the box. The sharpener will wear out after a few passes.
This knife is everything I expected it to be. It works great in the field. Very pleased with my purchase and Knife Depot.
