The KA-BAR Short Black Fixed Blade is designed to offer exceptional performance and durability. This knife's 5.25-inch blade is made from 1095 carbon steel, providing superior strength and the ability to hold a sharp edge for extended periods. The clip point design allows for precise handling and versatile use, whether slicing, piercing, or performing detailed tasks.
To enhance its functionality, the blade features a stout blood groove, providing improved efficiency by reducing friction and allowing for easier cutting. The black epoxy powder coating not only adds to the knife's sleek all-black appearance but also enhances its corrosion resistance, ensuring long-lasting performance.
The handle of the KA-BAR Short Fighting Knife is crafted from black Kraton G thermoplastic elastomer. With deep grooves and an ergonomic oval shape, it provides a secure and comfortable grip, allowing for extended use without discomfort or slippage. The powdered metal butt caps add to the handle's durability and offer stability and balance during use.
For added safety, the knife is equipped with a guard, preventing your hand from sliding onto the blade while using it. This feature is particularly useful when piercing or making vigorous cutting motions.
Included with the KA-BAR Short Fighting Knife is a high-quality leather sheath, providing convenient storage and ensuring that your knife is always protected and ready for use.

Making a quality KA-BAR product requires the talent of experienced craftspeople performing dozens of processes with precision and skill. Each knife undergoes specific manufacturing processes to ensure corrosion resistance, strength, edge holding ability, and an out-of-the-box razor sharp cutting edge.
Soon after its introduction in the mid-1920's, the KA-BAR trademark became widely known and respected. There have been many versions of how the KA-BAR name came to be, but all evidence points to a letter received from a fur trapper. This particular fur trapper's testimonial turned out to be the most significant ever received by the company.
He wrote, in very rough English, that his gun had jammed and that he had therefore relied on his knife to kill a wounded bear that was attacking him. In thanking the company for their quality product the trapper described using his knife to kill the bear. All that was legible of his scrawled writing was 'k a bar'. The company was so honored by this testimonial that they adopted this phrase and used it as their trademark, KA-BAR.
